Facebook data hacked:-
On 28th September 2018, again facebook data hacked. So let us know what, why and how it happened...
Facebook has a feature called "view as" in your profile. You can find it by visiting your profile page and then by clicking on the 3 dots.
In this feature, you can check your profile as being one of your friends and know how your profile will be shown to them.
But there was a bug in this feature. When you try to watch your profile being someone else. That person's access token will come to you. With this access token, anyone can get access to that profile. Hackers used this access token to hack 50 million accounts.
When we log in to our facebook or google account- you may have noticed that there is a checkbox called "remember me".
So when you check that box you don't need to put your login credentials every time. So 'Access token' comes to work here. From this token, it is verified whether you are logged in or not. So now if someone gets this 'access token' of your profile then he/she will get your Facebook profile in opened mode. Access token sets it. This is what the recent hackers used to hack 50 million Facebook accounts.
Facebook has admitted this incident and about this bug. Even Mark Zuckerberg has written a post on his Facebook page about "Facebook data breach 2018".
They have fixed the bug for now and looking for more issues if any exists.
Mark(CEO of Facebook) said that the access tokens of 50 million peoples were hacked and their all personal data gets exposed.
Facebook admitted that this bug was there in their system from 2017. But they came to know about this bug when a hacker challenged publicly that he will delete Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook page in a live stream.
So my message to you all is beware of the information that you are sharing online. Facebook comes second after Google who has the biggest amount of data about their users. Never give your personal data to any websites without proper investigation.
